A1 Business Purpose

The purpose is the reason a business was formed in terms of its intended impact on customers. Businesses will establish a need and supply goods and services to satisfy that need. For example, in 2020 many businesses realised there was a need for face masks and focused production on making them.

For profit organisations focus on supplying goods and services that will make a profit. Not for profit organisations may focus on supplying goods and services that are lacking in society. For example, cafes and restaurants sell food and drink to make a profit.

Cafe 8 in Hong Kong is a social enterprise which sells food and drink to help adults with learning difficulties to learn life skills which they lack opportunity to learn elsewhere.
