B3 Variance Analysis

Variance analysis is a method used to check the differences between planned revenue and expenditure and actual revenue and expenditure.

Favourable variances are when actual figures lead to higher profits. For example, when revenue is higher than planned or spending is lower than planned.

Adverse variances are when actual figures lead to lower profits. For example, when revenue is lower than planned or spending is higher than planned.
