ISO 9000 - A published set of quality standards defining the core concepts and principles of quality management.

Legislation - Laws or sets of laws to regulate industry.

Quality assurance - Systematic methods to ensure high quality throughout the production process.

Quality circles - Groups of employees brought together on a regular basis to discuss methods to solve problems and improve output in their organisation.

Quality control - Checking samples of a product in different stages of production against a specification.

Quality issues - Variations in the actual and expected performance of a businesses products.

Relevant industry legislation - Laws produced by the government to guide the behaviour of all businesses producing the same products.

Self-checking or inspection - A quality management method where individuals are expected to check the quality of their own work.

Total Quality Management - A management approach to eliminate errors through a whole staff ethos to enhance customer satisfaction.
