Ethical recruitment refers to processes of hiring new recruits in a way that is fair and transparent. This means that everybody has an equal and fair chance of being appointed to a job role.

Recommended guidance on ethical recruitment include;

  • being honest in an advertisement

  • Maintaining confidence

  • Asking all candidates the same question

  • Using the same criteria for all candidates

  • Disclosing if close friends or family work for the organisation

Evaluating Ethical Recruitment

  • Reduces legal action

  • Improvements to culture

  • Can be more attractive to job applicants

  • Brand reputation

  • Expensive and time consuming to develop policies

  • Training costs

  • Conflict in values
