Social Media provides a method to regularly connect with customers and potential customers. Businesses with a good social media strategy can increase the familiarity of their brand, can personalise their promotions, increase word of mouth through referrals, provide links to own website and can gather feedback.
Virtual Communities are groups of people who are connected by similar interests and communicate online. This may include using online forums on gaming to a shared Facebook group for BTEC Teachers (this exists). Businesses can use these communities to communicate directly with an audience that has similar and specific needs.
