BTEC Level 3 Business Studies. Unit 8: Recruitment and Selection Process
Application form - A document that is completed by a person applying for a job including fields decided by the organisation as important information to know about candidates.
Appropriate dress - Clothing that looks clean, tidy and professional. Expectations may differ depending on the business culture.
Body language - Posture, eye contact, smiling and other gestures that communicate non-verbally.
CV - A document produced by an individual to outline their education, qualifications, past work experience, interests and referees.
Formal language - Speaking in a polite and professional way, avoiding slang and swearing and using industry language.
Interview communication skills - Body language, formal language, professional dress etc
Interview feedback form - Documents that can be completed by an interview panel to rate candidates on the range of skills and aptitudes they demonstrate in an interview.
Interview questions - Questions designed to establish a candidate's suitability for a job.
Job advertisement - Announcements of a job opportunity placed in various media to inform potential candidates of a job vacancy
Job analysis - The process of identifying the tasks that are needed to complete the operations of a business and the skills and experience needed from staff to complete those tasks to a high standard.
Job applications - Documents received by potential candidates outlining their suitability for a role.
Job description - A document that outlines the main roles and responsibilities of a job role. It may include the job title, the location, who the employee will report to, who will report to them and a summary of duties.
Letter of application - A document sent to accompany an application form or CV to introduce them.
Observation form - A document used by interviewers to record the performance of candidates. The form is often a multiple-choice or checklist that is easy for the observers to complete.
Person specification - A document that outlines the skills, knowledge, experience and attributes of an ideal candidate for an advertised job role.
Role play - Asking a candidate to act out how they would respond to a given scenario.
Work-related competence - The ability of a person to fulfil a work role based on their abilities, knowledge, and experience.
