BTEC Level 3 Business Studies

 Describe

Learners give an account of something, steps in a process or characteristics of something. Statements in the response need to be developed, as they are often linked/in a logical order, but do not need to include a justification or reason.

Unit 21 P3 - Describe the types of training and development used by a selected business.

 Explain

Expand on a point being made providing sufficient detail. Learners use linkage words such as ‘therefore’, ‘so that’ and ‘because’ to expand on the initial point made

Unit 8 P2 - Explain how and why a business adheres to recruitment processes which are ethical and comply with current employment law

 Assess

Present careful consideration of varied factors or events that apply to a specific situation or, to identify those which are the most important or relevant and arrive at a conclusion.

Unit 1 M1 - Assess the relationship and communication with stakeholders of two contrasting businesses using independent research.

 Explore

Skills or knowledge involving practical research or testing

Unit 5 P7 - Explore the cultural differences affecting international businesses.

Analyse

Present the outcome of methodical and detailed examination by either breaking down a topic and interpret the interrelationships between the parts or studying key trends and interrelationships in data

Unit 1 M2 - Analyse how the structures of two contrasting businesses allow each to achieve its aims and objectives.

Evaluate

Consider aspects such as strengths and weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages, alternative actions and relevance or significance and draw a supported judgement

Unit 5 D4 - Evaluate the success of the strategies and resources used by a selected international business in one of its markets

Discuss

Consider different aspects of a topic, how they interrelate and/or the extent to which they are important

Unit 1 P4 - Discuss the internal, external and competitive environment on a given organisation..
