A3 Benefits of Effective Teams

Strong teams foster creativity. People who feel valued in a team will contribute more to discussions. Having more people contributing different perspectives drives innovation which can lead to better quality products and services.

Strong teams have better productivity and more effectively share the workload. Good communication ensures that it is clear that everybody is contributing an equal amount which can reduce resentment and improved morale can increase individual efforts toward the team goal.

Effective teams can improve motivation through a variety of factors. Social needs can be met by allowing people to work together, good communication can make people feel valued and having and celebrating a clear goal can give workers a better sense of purpose in what they do.

Effective teams have a good synergy of strengths. By understanding what each team member brings to the table and encouraging participation from all team members ensures that each individual is used to their full potential.

Effective teams allow flexibility. By having a good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of different members of the team and by fostering a culture where members care about the overall team role, members will be more able and willing to switch between tasks as and when needed.

Effective teams attract talent (new staff). When applying for jobs, many people will research what its like to work at an organisation. Companies with a good reputation for good teamwork and a strong culture are more appealing to work for and those companies are more likely to have a larger pool of applicant for positions they advertise than those with a poor reputation.
