A1 Definitions of Teams

Difference between a group and a team

The terms group and team have very similar meanings but there are subtle differences which have an impact on how they work together.

A group is a collection of people who work together in similar roles but they essentially work independently. For example, a bookkeeping department will have a collection of people working on very similar tasks for similar goals but they are working on their own targets.

A team is a collection of people who share a common purpose and work together to achieve their shared goals. For example, to make a car, a team of people each with different roles all work together to achieve the same finished product.
