To establish the purpose of different teams at John Lewis, I reviewed the career pages to establish how they organise their teams, the purpose of different teams and the roles of individual team members. 

To Solve the Problem of Shrinkage at John Lewis 

John Lewis has a business area called ‘Risk & compliance’. They are currently seeking two team members called, ‘Loss Prevention Partners’. These positions are part of a team to establish the reasons behind shrinkage (missing stock), resolve conflict situations related to shrinkage and mitigate the risk of harm.

To Support the HGV Lorry Drivers

The maintenance & facilities area of John Lewis has a team whose purpose is to support HGV lorry drivers. John Lewis employs over 900 HGV drivers to move their products between suppliers, warehouses and 42 distribution sites across the UK. The vehicle workshop team are responsible for ensuring all HGV lorries are safe, roadworthy and meet legal requirements. 

To Create Effective Engagement Platforms

At John Lewis, there is a visual coordination team whose purpose is to create effective engagement platforms to develop influential relationships with stakeholders. They are currently recruiting an ‘Operations Visual Coordinator’. Key roles to fulfil this purpose include actively engaging with stakeholders, proactive suggestions for continuous improvement and improving visual communication networks. 

To innovate new menu strategies and product development at Dishpatch

Dishpatch is a subsidiary of John Lewis offering high-quality home delivered meal-kits. They have a product development team, whose purpose is delivering new menu strategies and product development. They are currently recruiting a ‘Product Development Assistant’, whose roles include testing dishes, building recipes and analysing feedback.  

To Plan Use of Media to Maximise Revenue

John Lewis has a team whose purpose is to maximise the revenue received from their media campaigns. They are currently recruiting a ‘Retail Sales & Planning Manager’. This role involves working with data analysts and retail clients to ensure all media communications are desirable to consumers, to ensure high conversion to sales. 

To Analyse Consumer Demand

John Lewis has a team of forecast analysts whose purpose is to analyse consumer demand. There is currently a vacancy for ‘Forecast Analyst’, whose role is to forecast consumer demand in a range of locations and items. These forecasts will inform a range of decisions such as supply chain planning and stock ordering.
